This model of historic Hangar 6 on Ford Island in Pear Harbor is now in my CLASSIC AIRSHIPS shop. The model is available in either 1:700 or 1:600 scale and depicts the building as it was at the time of the Japanese attack, 7 December 1941.
Hangar 6 was a complete, self-contained seaplane assembly, maintenance and repair facility. For a short but excellent description and historical notes please go to the US Library of Congress web page here and then click on the "PDF Data Pages" button. Clicking on the photo button reveals a series of shots of the hangar as it was in 1985 with all of the massive expanses of glazing painted over.
Printed in durable white nylon, the model takes paint well (acrylics recommended) and can be assembled with all doors closed or open or anywhere in between!

Happy modeling

Derek

Ford Island in May 1940 - Hangar 6 is on the extreme right of the island. With doors on both sides, aircraft had direct access to the slip way down to the sea or onto the air strip in the center of the island....

A little while after the attack, Hangar 6 , this time on the left and still working despite the damage inflicted...
