Just launched another new crowdfunding campaign, for a 1/350 scale 3D printed USS Atlanta CL-51, in as Guadalcanal condition.

https://outoftheboxmodels.com/collections/crowdfunding-projects/products/crowdfunding-1-350-uss-atlanta-cl-51-guadalcanal

There are only 10 units, at $30 each, since the flat rate to design a 1/350 light cruiser is $300. Once all 10 are sold, CAD Development will begin, and all purchasers will get their model once that process is complete, one week before the model is up for sale in our store. Also free shipping on all crowdfunded projects.

1) who's providing the research?
2) Is it a full kit, and since it's 3D printed, what is the breakdown of parts going to be like?

There can be. I will be contacting everyone who purchased the crowdfunding Unit to understand their requirements. kinda using a "User Experience" approach to the design.

1) I have some books, I was going to try and get some blueprints.
2) We should be able to print the hull in 1 piece, in two versions, waterline. The hull and deck will be printed on a High End FDM printer. The Superstructure and guns will be printed using a Material Jetting Printer, or on our Form2 SLA printer, in acrylic resin.

I'm intrigued. I'll drop $30 on this. Pay you when I get home.

10 units at $30 = $300. You think he's going to have much left over for research given the volume of material in each printing and free shipping? I mean, unless the business model includes loss leaders.....

If I were going to be anywhere near archives in the next month or so I'd be happy to help, but I won't be there until fall.

We'll figure it out! I am going to do the same thing that I'm doing with out 1/72 Yak-9T on the 72nd Scale aircraft forum, and make a development thread and post all of the engineering updated as I get them, so you guys can help guide the project to get the most accurate model possible.

Also, there's only 1 Crowdfund unit left for the Atlanta.

Yes it did. I am going to get the ball rolling and assign an engineer to the project, where on the forum would be the best place to post the progress thread for the CAD Design?

Pontos posts a lot of their stuff in the manufacturer's thread, but there's also a CGI section I hear (I'm blocked from it so I don't know if it still exists).

Sorry, I did not know that I removed your access to that public section. You should see it now.

No. It was the result of a spat Cadman and I maybe five years ago... just wasn't worth it to me to deal with.

Tim - I can see it now, thanks. :thumbs_up_1:

One of my engineers is going to do the Midway and Atalanta side by side, but he is finishing another project right now, but we expect to start both of these in a week or so!
