They're in the mail; they should make an excellent painting exercise...

I have just ordered set 3 in 200 scale... which will probably be the set I need for the first stage below the shelter deck... I will just keep adding sets as I progress through the build ("Winter is Coming...", so time to re-start my Hood...)

Look very good... can't wait to see them 'in the flesh'.

Yep... exactly the same as my experience!

Anyone else bought from NorthStarModels?

Did you ever receive your items... or even a response to emails?

I'm not worried; track & trace if often simply awful. Better to not have it and save you the trouble of thinking the package was lost. Plus, their website said it could take 3 to 4 of weeks. The website also says how awful the track & trace is in general and that it's beyond their control. And unfortunately that is completely credible.

Yes... my thoughts as well. I deal with shipping in my day job and I'm aware of how bad 'track and trace' is... but on the other side, I buy a lot on Amazon and theirs is exceptionally good.

I hadn't noticed the three to four weeks advice, so thanks for that... but I'm not overly worried either... I just get a little impatient sometimes :thumbs_up_1:

(Which is weird when you consider how slow and inconsistent I am at building! :heh:

I know exactly how that works  I picked up my model again and have a bunch of stuff on order... and I really really need my new drill bits and etch to arrive this weekend! If all goes well I'll have two 20" searchlight projectors that cost €60 each...

For the figures I'm aiming for a Christmas session... I did some primitive figure painting a while back and I think I can manage the same tricks for a small figure... blending in shadows and highlights...

Yes and yes. It's been a couple of years, so I don't remember precisely. However, I do remember that it took quite a while to arrive - maybe a month to the USA. I bought some more NorthStar stuff last year - but I got it from Freetime.

Thanks Brian...

Maybe I’m just expecting too much from a small company. All seems to be fine.

I’ll let everyone know when they arrive :thumbs_up_1:

I don't think it's so much that it's a small company - most of the companies in this hobby are pretty small, with the exception of Trumpeter, Tamiya and maybe Dragon. Just off the top of my head, Loose Cannon, IHP, WEM, L'Arsenal, Iron Shipwrights, Blue Ridge, Samek and Flagship are all very small companies, say 5 people or less. Several of these are one man outfits.

I think the difference with North Star is that they're in Russia, and shipping from there to most western countries simply takes a very long time and that is probably also made worse by customs/duties delays.

North Star are in the Ukraine, so they have their own particular difficulties at the moment.

I have the figures in stock at present - http://www.starling-models.co.uk along with many other North Star and other items, as a UK based small (yes, one man) business we can supply many of these hard to find items.

Thanks Mike,

so do you have the 200 scale RN figures in stock...?

I think there are four different sets... and if these look good when they arrive and are a marked improvement over the Trumpeter figures, justifying the price differential, then I have, then I’ll be ordering more...
