Advice needed,
Have just looked at this set for Warspite at White Ensign Models,
it's priced at £ 137.94 Sterling including VAT.
The cost from Hobbydecal direct is $ 125 USD including postage. That works out at £ 79.01, a saving of £58.93. Has any Forum member from the UK ordered direct from Hobbydecal,
and is there any Import Tax or Duty to be considered ?
Any advice will be appreciated.
Regards
Richard

My set appeared in the mail today, and I am impressed. Well packed, nothing broken, but do be careful removing the Styrofoam peanuts inside because many of the small packets of brass and resin parts are swimming loose inside.

The quality of the PE is on par with anything I have seen. The wooden deck resembles the decks produced by other Korean makers and so also is good.

I very much like getting extra resin, brass, PE and a wood deck in one box with one set of instructions. I hate juggling multiple sets of instructions on a build.

I have two projects to finish, and then on to Warspite.

Mine too arrived with no damage but one fret outside of it's sheath.

I got a set last week from Pontos and finally was able to look at it today.

As I was snapping photographs I found myself mulling the line from "Tron Legacy;"

A lot's changed, but I think you'd not recognize it anymore in near future.

Thank you

Does this mean you have "1st generation" and "2nd generation" sets?

If you are lucky it will just pass through customs unchecked. If not you'll have to pay VAT on the purchase value + shipping cost according to EU regulations. For scale models there should be no duty applicble.
Cheers,
Guido

Yes, I got mine from HobbyDecal, it took about a week to London.
I had no problem with customs but the box was crushed by postman shoving it through the letterbox; all contents were undamaged. It looks as though the box had beeen opened and the end of the box was slightly damaged by this, I think. Therefore my guess is that HM Customs had a look at it but did not levy any duty on it.

The set looks lovely and is well worth the price. The resin parts are very nice, particularly the gun tubs which are amazingly thin and perfectly cast.

Thanks for the reply, Admiral John Byng,
Have usually ordered from WEM so I will try direct from Prontos.

Richard :thumbs_up_1:

P.S.
In my opinion,
the execution of Admiral John Byng was one of the blackest days in the history of the Admiralty.

You're welcome.
I agree with you about Admiral Byng, apparently he was not a pleasant man but he was the victim of the shabby politicians who were in government at that time and the obnoxious King George II.

As usual the Admiral was ordered to do something impossible with an inadequate force.
