I'm surprised that no one else has posted about this year's IPMS show in Vancouver.

This year, I brought along my build of Aoshima's 1/700 carrier Unryu kit and submitted it to the 601 or out of the box nautical category.

Here's pics of all the models submitted to the nautical category. One will notice the 1/700 Portland and Indianapolis in the background by our fellow forum member Steve S, who modified a second Tamiya Indianapolis kit to make a 1944-45 Portland.

Interestingly, I won 3rd place for the out of the box category, but with a catch...there were only 3 entries total in that category! hehehe. :heh:

Anyways, it was a good turn out, with modellers coming from as far as IPMS chapters in both Seattle, WA and even Oregon. Here's a sampling of the models in the other categories that were present.

I would usually post something, but wasn't there this year. Will probably be there next year, though.

Lot fewer ships than usual, I see.

Congrats on your award. Would love to see close ups of both your carrier and the Indy and Portland. All of them look very nice.

Agreed. I'd love to see them as well. Unfortunately, I pass thru Vancouver about once a decade.

I wish something was posted here before the convention, to allow for advance planning. While I am several hours to the South, I would have braved another irritating crossing experience at the Canadian border station to see that. :heh:
