Hello Paul and the rest of the bretheren,

I sent my email of support from New York!

Bronnington is special to me as I modeled her using the excellent WEM kit.
You can see photos here:

Paul, please keep us posted. I hope to return to the UK someday soon and swing north to visit the Liverpool area (I am a Beatles fan as well) and was hoping to visit the Museum. Did Portsmouth last time I was across the pond.

Cheers, :thumbs_up_1:

Nice model there Felix. You will be given a warm welcome in the Wirral & Liverpool I am sure, pity if the Bronnington may not be there to see, but I hope that something can be done to save the ships in question.

messages sent!

it is important that artifacts such as these are not simply allowed to waste away for a .... car park!!

A similar situation at Southampton Ocean village

The fine old Lightship ' Calshot' ashore for about 20 years concreted in to waterline..

not seen a lick of paint in all that time... I guess the 'authorities' are hoping she will implode, giving them the excuse to bulldoze the remains...

Hi,

I have written an article on modellmarine.de to support the rescue of these historic ships. It's nothing but a scandal if the ships would be sold for scrap :mad_1:

@Lozza1981
may I use Your pictures of the ships on modellmarine?

Bye
Stefan

Hi all, its Paul, on the Plmouth right now, there is some news.
Our campaign, is now taking effect and seems to be working so far, but, please guys, keep the emails comming and anything else you can do to make a loud noise about this, will be most greatfully received, thanks to the webmaster for making this sticky, from all onboard Plymouth.
There is a council meeting this Wednesday and we hope it will favour us in a good way.

In the meantime, today saw the buisiest visitors day we have ever seen, please keep up the good work.

Thanks to everyone for your help, keep it up.

To Paul one idea is you contact John or Caroline or Dave at White Ensign Models (WEM) and they will hopefully put up this campaign on their brochure news page of their website to help spread the word further.

They did a similar thing for HMS WHIMBREL which is still at the top of their news page!!!

Nice to hear the visitor numbers were high, this has to be in your favour. Three of us coming up next Sunday, from Staffordshire.

Dear all,

Best wishes to you all in your efforts. I just hope that you succeed. The thought that all the hard work and the significance of the vessells and their history may be destroyed due to some smallminded money hungry "local authorities" beggars belief!

I have sent an email to Colin.

By the way, your "local authority" would probably not be interested in my view - they have probably never heard of Australia!!!

Excellent article by Stefan - he has done a great job. I can't read german but I certainly get the ghist!

Fingers crossed guys, and let's keep up the pressure. The internet is a great medium for spreading news and mustering support. Let us spread the word as much as possible.
Anyone on here visit the UK IPMS site? Perhaps we could post something there too.
I simply cannot beleive that something as historically significant as some of these vessels shall be allowed to go under the scrapman's torch.

I tried posting a similar thread over on the Airfix.com site but got no responses sadly.

Hi all and thankyou for your continued support on this matter, I have just got back from the ships and this weekend was a record for visitor numbers, we hope this will continue for the next two weekends and then on if we manage to get all this sorted out. Apparrently the councillors are running around like headless chickens now, long may this continue, LOL.

The posting of all the councillors names and email addresses this morning is so anyone who wants to can now email the blighters directly, this list is also available on Wirral Bourgh concil's website so no rules are being broken by doing this.

Please continue to help as you have and I just wish we could buy you all a beer.

Paul...

Paul, I was amazed at the amount of support this has created and it's nice to see our German friends, supporting us too. U543 will obviously give them the feeling, that we are displaying, not just British ship's.
I have that gut feeling, that something will be done to save these ships at least and just let's hope that another site in Birkenhead can be secured for the indefinate future, so that our grandchilren and future generations can see.
I am coming up next Sunday and bringing a few friends from our Model Boat Club, who have never been before. The Plymouth and Onyx bring back many happy memories of when I served on board H.M.S. Rhyl and H.M.Submarine Oberon, back in the 1960s, and it will be nice to go aboard them once again.
Geoff

Hi Geoff, make sure you get there early, they where outside the gates before we opened this weekend, and they just kept comming. It is really great, we just wish it was like this or even half as good in normal circumstances.

It will be about 11 30 - 12 when we arrive, as we can't get off much before 10 am.
Yes, it's surprising, when something like this happens, people come out of the woodwork, but it's got to be good for publicity. No doubt the attendace figures will be presented to the meeting, which should bolster the protest. :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:
