Hi all,
I've currently got the newish Trumpeter 1/700 HMS York kit in my stash. While it is a fairly nice kit the aircraft catapult is molded in plastic which is posing a bit of frustration since I can't find a pe replacement for it anywhere (besides buying the Samek kit)...
Hence I am wondering if:
1) there is a PE set somewhere which contains the catapult
2) there is a way to scratchbuild a somewhat accurate representation of the catapult from other PE parts
3) if maybe Tom's modelworks or WEM has a York/Exeter PE set planned?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers!

Take a look at Tom's Modelworks. He offers a set for the HM County class cruisers that have enough parts to do a couple of ships (specific parts for various ships). The set includes two catapults that should be close to the York's catapult. You might also look at White Ensign (owned by Tom's, but under a separate website) to see what may be offered there for the catapult you are looking for.

I have not made a set for these ships (York and Exeter) because I believed that a set already existed made by Atlantic Models or Starling Models. I cannot access Starling Models website right now and I do not see it on Atlantic's website. I certainly can create a set for York and Exeter but it would take a bit of time. In the meantime, the rotating "heavy" catapult is likely what York had and that is on Tom's set 7103. There may be other useful parts on that set for York but I have not looked into that thoroughly.

I think the domain for Starling Models has changed. The working one is available from their Facebook page, seems the wording changed to "starlingmodels"
