Just got done talking to a Distributor for Very Fire, 1/350 Montana is in the works and we should see it between September and November this year. He also said we will be seeing at least a Wisconsin and possibly a New Jersey come out but no indication on year or fit.

That is wonderful! I haven't bought a single kit for several years now (due to busy stash and no modelling time,) so this may finally be a kit I need to invest in! :woo_hoo:

I prefer displaying my models in a waterline format, and for that reason I prefer 1/700 to 1/350, despite the fact that I'm approaching 70 and my vision isn't what it used to be. Frankly, I don't have the space to display that many large models. I also have been very disappointed that most new 1/350 kits now are limited to the full hull presentation with no easy option to build a waterline version. Not only does a waterline display look more accurate to me (in real life one can't really see the hull can right?), they save oodles of space, even at 1/350. Id like to see more styrene 1/350 kits, but except for Hobby Boss's pre-dreadnoughts and their new Seydlitz, most are subjects that do not interest me much. Well, the Alaska does, I must admit, and if was offered in a waterline version I'd snap it up in an instant.

I still think that having the lower hull included benefits other modelers who might like displaying the whole ship on a stand. I would guess that moulding the lower hull as a separate piece will be more costly for the manufacturers. Besides, it is still possible for one to cut the lower hull off with various techniques and tools.

Maybe they’ll also release the other two unbuilt sisters, including CB-4 USS Philippines. :heh:

There were three cancelled unbuilt (never laid down) sisters;

CB-4 PHILLIPINES
CB-5 PUERTO RICO
CB-6 SAMOA

USS HAWAII (CB-3) was launched but never completed.

Personally I hope they keep turning out the Iowas. They may not be absolutely perfect but they are leaps and bounds superior to the Tamiya that I sold my unbuilt Tamiya off. Have the Missouri, have Iowa on order. Want at least a WWII New Jersey and Wisconsin out of Very Fire. And I'll grab post war boxings as well Very Fire, if your reading.

All that being true, I won't be turning my nose up at a 1/350 plastic Montana. Glad to add it to my fleet.

In what way are the Very Fire "Iowas" not perfect?

It was already released by Italeri some years ago, and I would have prefered a Gerald Ford instead...

Another issue
Usually in the past, by April, there was in Japan a Hobby Show where Japanese manufacturers displayed/announced their new kits. Something like Tokyo Hobby Show or Shizuoka Hobby Show. Does this still exist for ship kits (apparently Tokyo Hobby show was last week), and did/shall any of us in this area attend to it ?

No Philippe ,it was Fujimi with the KH and Connie,Italieri is 1/720 ,nearly and inch shorter(that's big on that scale)and this kit is just an obvious follow up of the 1/350 kit.

Gerald Ford is a fully new development, yes I wish also the GF in 1/350 , pretty sure it will be Trumpeter in a few years from now

Kitty Hawk is 323.80 m long. At 1/700, this makes a kit of 46.25 cm. At 1/720 , the kit is 44.9 cm. the difference is 1.27 cm. OK, not negligible, but not an inch, a half of it. Furthermore, the Fujimi kit at 1/700 was even younger than the Italeri one, which for me, makes the Trumpeter issue a non-event, except if the level of detail is much higher than in the two older kits.

Right, half inch for me is a lot in 1/350 ,now in 1/700 is big

and the Fujimi was issued about 2003,long time ago, and was wayyyy better than Italieri, those italieris models are basic old kits on a wierd scale, now if the Trump KH is close on detail to the 1/350 model, then will be a great model indeed. And for sure is a very welcome model for the real 1/700 modelers

I have that Fujimi kit from 2003. It is a very basic kit, no catwalk details whatsoever. The only useful parts are the aircraft.
