Is it just me, or do the Chinese still not completely understand the concept of an aircraft carrier? :rolf_3:

Just a riposte to the Japanese DDH box art.

Looks like an Atago class DDG burning nearby, and an Izumo class DDH sinking in the background. This would be highly insensitive and inflamatory in the current political climate, if it wasn't for the sheer ridiculousness and stupidity of a carrier (or any modern ship) fighting at that kind of range

Well, inflamatory and insensitive....
I can remember that a few years ago if I recall correctly there was a box art
from a 1/700 Izumo Class helicopter carrier on which in the background was a sinking
Shaolin carrier of the chinese....... :cool_1:
So Now it is reversed that the Izumo is sinking :heh:
just a small case of revenge I think , you could wait on it :thumbs_up_1:
For myself when i saw this Boxart now i could not resist to have a grinn
because i remembered the earlier boxart
greetings Chris

The consensus on Chinese boards suggests that this is a boxart war between Trumpeter and Aoshima. The new carrier box art is apparently a retaliation to Aoshima's JMSDF Hyuga which dingpicts a PLAN carrier sinking in the background right next to the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands.

My bigger issue is the decision to label this ski-jump carrier the Type 002, which has generally been the label for the in-construction third carrier that's supposed to have catapults. The boxart's carrier seems more akin to the currently in-trials Type 001A, which differs from the Liaoning (Type 001) mainly by the smaller, more advanced island.

Oh dear!

I was not aware of the Aoshima box. This little box art war would be cute and amusing if it wasn't for the underlying problem that this could potentially happen for real, then we'd all be "sunk"! :wave_1:

Won't be long before Aoshima does an update with the Hyuga depicted with F-35s jumping off and chinese jets and ships on fire into the drink. :heh:
