The Chinese Wikipedia does not show that difference in length, nor most of the other Wikipedia articles. It could be correct that the hull is the same...

We might ask Mr Xi !
Anyway, even if both hulls are the same size, now that my kit is finished since 2 years, I am not going to shorten it after the time I spent to enlarge it at 1/350 !!

Its been up for preorder on Hobbyeasy for a number of weeks now....

However on Takom's facebook page if you look you will be greeted with the news that they are also gonna do this thing in 1/350. It'll be like 30.5 inches long.....

YES !!! .......... HMS Calcutta is most welcome indeed; a lovely and very desired addition to the RN's WWII modelling ranks. :woo_hoo:

However, on a different theme, does anyone know if FlyHawk's 1/700 Duke of York is still in their catalogue of future releases ??

From the details shown on the very first page of this thread, it looks as though she is/was to be modelled in her configuration prior to her refit and modernisation in 1944/45, i.e. before the catapult deck had a deckhouse built over it and the ship's boats repositioned there.

Because FlyHawk have already released HMS Prince of Wales a little while ago, I was hopeful that, because of their basic timeline similarities, Duke of York would have appeared before now, which is why I was wondering if the project was still in existence.

Similarly, I would have thought that a Tirpitz would have appeared shortly after Bismarck! Actually, only some minor scratch-building, and some after-market accessories needed for a DIY.

Beaver Corporation is the entity that Very Fire used for their Taiho; I wonder what this indicates regarded the Very Fire situation.

Beaver Corp also has their label on a lot of Eduard PE sets imported and sold from Japan, so I don't think it means much.

I am told that unlike the Beaver/Very Fire Taiho this Takom Super Yamato turret won't be made available through other usual Takom distribution channels so if you want one you'll need to get it through http://www.hlj.com (which is part of same company as Beaver).

Yes, finally the 1/700th HMS BELFAST ( 1942 ) from Trumpeter looks to being near to release.

Hobby Search have it down for an October release - so they will probably get to the UK about Christmas.

There will no doubt be a third party resin offering of a lower hull, similar to the Flyhawk Agincourt.

prices :please:

concerning the new 1/200 Yamato.

Not THE newest release off a new yamato 1/200 after the old and venerable Nichimo Yamato.
There was a few years ago a new release ( new mold) off the Hobby Bull 1/200 RC Yamto.
rather expensive but a muuuuch better one then the old Nichimo.
The Nichimo was here about 400-450 us dollars.
Now.......the new Monochrome 1/200 Yamato, also sold under MRC label .
I presume the moulds are made by trumpeter , sold under Monochrome label , sold
under MRC label . Is that correct ? Monochrome is a japanese brand , they just sell it in
Japan with that brandname for political reasons ?
The new Monochrome 1/200 yamato anyhow has here in Europe ( Glow 2B ) an official
retail price of 480 euro's ( with the excange rate almost 1:1 at the moment ) 480 us dollars.
And already on the internet here 20- 60 euro's less !
In the USA I see almost dubble retail pricing !! On the internet there also cheaper.
What is the reason for this big price difference between Europe and the USA when it is the
sam mould/brand. makes no sense to me really or are there 2 different brands ..... :anyone:
greetings
Chris

This is about as close as it gets for Christmas coming early this year for me. :woo_hoo:
Is Bronco associated with Trumpeter in any way or is it totally separate and independent? Because I would have expected Trumpeter would come out with their version first and maybe Meng with their own version later on.
