I have searched the Net for information on these vessels but while I have found some, overall its pretty thin on the ground.
Does anyone have information / plans / photos they are willing to share of these vessels ? Especially interested in the activities in the English Channel and Baltic areas...!

Another example of how researching one subject [ S-Boots ] can lead off onto another. These vessels appear to have been very active and in decent numbers but history and academic study concentrates on the larger units of the Kriegsmarine. Also, this is compounded by the fact history, for the most part, is written by the victors, especially the Western ones!

Thank you in anticipation :thumbs_up_1:

Thank you Michael and Alexey for your input. Very useful.

I understand that there is a Russian language book / magazine called something like "Naval Collections" that has an edition of S-Boots. I would be interested to see copies or buy one if someone had a spare copy or happy to supply scans.

I use to get some of this series from www.armybooks.combut in not currently connected / operational.

Thank you in anticipation.... :cool_1:

Ironduke,

If you're planning a build, tell us more.

I'm interested in an early boat (R-190 series) and have been gathering information.

This kit of two card models (one for early WW2, one for late WW2 in the English Channel) might be available somewhere:

Good photos of R-boats (Räumboot) appear in Paul Beaver, E-Boats and Coastal Craft, pages 34-60. The photos came from the Bundesarchiv. I haven't seen any of them in Google searches.

Looks good Michael. Amazing what turns up when you wander around the Net. :thumbs_up_1:

I'm happy to discuss matters around this topic off the message board if you are interested, or for that matter anyone else too. :cool_1:

Iron Duke and I have been batting messages back and forth about details on this class.

The R-195 had a quad 2cm mounted on the foredeck @ January 1944. As part of an ongoing project in 1:72nd scale, I'd found a Lindberg (ex-AHM, ex-Hasegawa?) German 8 ton halftrack kit.

Have you the ISBN or the specific title of this book? Who published it?

Lawrence Patterson's book on German Security Forces afloat in WW2
