Post subject: After Market Detail sets
PostPosted: Mon Feb 05, 2018 7:16 pm
I have recently bought the 1/350 Tamiya USS Missouri Circa 1991 and was looking for an aftermarket detail set for a low price. I can't seem to locate any but have found one for the Modern USS New Jersey. As these two ships are the similar I was wondering if it would work on my Missouri.

Cheers

Aftermarket detail sets and low price are not usually in the same sentence. That said You could buy generic parts here and there to update the kit, like generic USN railings or 5" guns. But at the end of the day it is a question of what is "detailed enough" and what is "worth it" to each modeller. I will say this, when I first saw some of these uber detailed sets, I about choked on my coffee at the price. When I thought about it, I bought aftermarket parts that where each substantially cheaper for a build I did. When at the end of the day, some of that parts worked okay together, others did not. I also ended up spending more than one of these detail set would have costed. So food for thought.

The first recommendation

https://www.ebay.com/itm/CNDRAGON-1-350 ... SwA3dYeDgj

5 frets of brass including railings ,doors and 2 types of barrels for only $55 USD shipping included it is definitely cheap.

The only problem with this sets ,no instructions ,just a photo of the assembled piece (have a couple of this brand)
