I’m new to this forum so apologies if this question has been asked and answered somewhere . The Revell kit has no anchors or voids in the hull. I have the WEM photoetch for this kit which includes anchors and anchor chain . Has anyone built this kit and run into the same problem? I am thinking to drill holes in the hull but this might not look particularly authentic without the fittings , also where does the anchor chain go ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Dave

I would drill the holes. The anchors would hide most of the hole so you would not see the empty interior. Also, if she is like USN carriers, everything else would be out of sight under the flightdeck.

Revell included no representation of the ship’s prominent anchors, so I added simple hawsepipes on mine from plastic discs cut with a .081 inch Waldron punch.

Drilled through with an X-acto, they will later accommodate photoetch brass anchors from the White Ensign set.

The anchor chains would be inside the hull and visible on the enclosed foredeck through those four rectangular openings... if the Revell kit had shown it, that is!

Thanks for your reply . I’ll try drilling the holes and using some thin plastic to form the outer face for the hawses. As you said the chain is internal to the ship so the chain won’t be needed.
