Which is even more interesting since they show the Zara with a green bottom:

on another kit, the 1:700 Chinese carrier n°2, presumably called Shandong is available on eBay.de, and probably others. Just purchased it this morning.

Just a philosophical thought. I have never understood why the names of this carrier and of Liaoning are kept secret, as if there was some magic power in these names : like in some ancient religions, the one who knows the name of the god steals his powers ...

Liaoning and Shandong are just names of two particular Chinese provinces, both of which are on the northeast coast.

Nice. What are the specific differences between this and their Penelope kit?

There are a number of differences. This kit represents Galatea in her pre-war fit with single 4-inch guns. The aft superstructure immediately fwd Y-turret is different as is the aft shelter deck layout, it is longer with shelters for the 4-inch gun crews between the mounts on each side. Moving forward, the two will be more similar I believe. The aircraft would more likely be a Sea Fox rather than the Walrus.

When refitted for WW2, Galatea (and Arethusa) had the aft shelter deck extended forward to the region of her catapult (which was removed) so her torpedo tubes were now "sheltered". I've already built her 1941 fit by modifying a Chung King kit - not perfect, but didn't turn out too badly at my skill level!

Talk about price creep!! Same store, this kit (with PE) is almost twice the price of comparable Penelope. Even Flyhawk Bismarck, with PE, was $20 cheaper!! Once Flyhawk gets you hooked on their product they start raising their prices. :mad_1: (I'll probably still get one)

yes, looks expensive , thinking in you can buy a VeryFire USS Missouri in 1/350 scale with only 20 bucks extra and getting maybe 10 times more of plastic for that sum ,now I am thinking that 1/700 scale is way expensive for a little models

Hello,
the discrepancies between prices for 1/350 and 1/700 coming for these kits so close has nothing to
do with 1/700 is half ( in reality 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/8 of the amount for plastic in comparing to 1/350 scale.
Moulds asking about high price also, work/time spent on it almost same, packaging/shipment also high.
only difference maybe the slightly lesser amount of plastic needed and little less shipment/packaging costs.
So fare my thoughts
greetings Chris

Regarding the price of Flyhawk´s Galatea. The price will probably decrease as more sellers get it. It is so new that the few sellers that have it are trying to get the best of it. What´s what I believe anyway.

Hmmm... I won't hold my breath! Dawn Grocery Store usually have some of the best prices, and they don't usually lower them.

This price will not reduce, the kit comes with brass and as referred before dawn grocer store is one of the cheap sellers.

Aoshima' s Norfolk, displayed at Nurnberg, is in North Cape fit. The blurb at Hobbysearch says its a new mould but I reckon it will be the Dorsetshire modified with more AA and different radar etc, with the unfortunate underscale of that kit, around 1/720. Norfolk carried no aircraft at North Cape so maybe we won't get the Walrus/Wellington/Sunderland sprue.

We can send a probe into deep space but translate a text from Japanese to english, that we can not.

-Farewell !! Scharnhorst! Scatter in the North Sea !!
-For the German navy, the battle station was changed to a large extent with [Bismarck chase] [Hokuto Sea Battle].
-A heavy strike Norfolk strike hit the battleship Scharnhorst.
-Heavy cruiser Dorset Shah's sister ship appeared in a completely new mold.
-It is Norfolk with a completely new mold.
-It is a late 1943 specification.

The Shah that they mention is it perhaps related to the shah of Iran... :heh:
If I remember my history correct it was the Shah of Iran that hit the battleship Scharnhorst, and it in turn scattered in the North sea. Or am I wrong?
