This.
I've been building a/c far longer than ships and see this morbid fascination with the hakenkreuz very clearly in that market. There are never enough 109s and 190s. Also, Luft '46 kits abound while real hardware from other nations gets short shrift. There's where the easy sales seem to be.

Just saw this on Keumho Kim's Facebook page. Coming soon, from Pontos:

1/700 IJN Yamato 1945.
You need not throw away old ones to the trash but you may start to work from this kit.

Trumpeter did the 1/350 Belfast but, didn’t do her sister Edinburgh? What’s up with that. And where is the 1/700 version of Belfast?

Belfast was blistered as part of her 1939-1942 repair. Edinburgh was not blistered prior to her loss, so a kit of her would have required entirely new tooling for the hull as well as some detail changes in the superstructure.

As for the 1/700 version, I too have been looking for it ever since it was announced.

I posted some further CAD images of that kit in the Yamato class thread.

Probably a factory in China, like what I use.....

But this looks like every other new Yamato kit made since 1998. I wouldn't call it a game changer, just an alternative for those who like PE and more PE.

The Fujimi NEXT Yamato is for me; I like kits that are precolored and not a pain to assemble. There's now a Yamato kit in 1/700 for every taste.

Looks like it has the new flatter stern , and full hull plating , and a ton of etch , an improvement yes, but not a game changer, and the fact that you HAVE to install the wooden deck as the kit doesn't give you normal deck with the plastic for me its a minus, A) because wooden decks in 1/700 are grossly over scaled , and B) as it was stained anyway whats the point of having real wood tone if you have to paint it anyway?

Some say it was not B) but I agree with you wholeheartedly on A.

Looks like Takom and Snowman are partnering up. The ships are also available separately as full hull models. Will be interesting to see how they stack up against Flayhawk.

Chris Meddings noted in the comments on the Facebook posting for these that the PE parts, at least, share the same parts distribution as the Flyhawk ones except for the lack of railings, which suggests these might just be the Flyhawk molds (for above the waterline anyway).

Interesting, but I wonder how would this benefit Flyhawk, other than selling or leasing the molds?

Snowman announced a 1943 Scharnhorst as well, which Flyhawk already released pre-pandemic. Either they are working together, or Snowman has bad luck in picking subjects that Flyhawk has already released.

Someone else mentioned rumours that Flyhawk has stopped producing the Der/Lutz kits and it's likely Takom (or Snowman!) snatched up the molds for them. Would be interesting to see when the last time Flyhawk put out the kits.

I wouldn't mind at all if Takom/Snowman released the Zeppelin + PE as a separate kit.

Latest Trumpeter announcement is for the 1/350th Sangamon CVE as already reported plus a 1/700th HMS Cornwall (WW2 Cruiser):

There was 15 british County class heavy cruisers. Aoshima has produced four (Dorsetshire, Norfolk, Cornwall and Kent), and now Trumpeter make another Cornwall. I can't understand why Trumpeter have no choosen another not duplicated.

That's right. You'd think something from the Bismarck action would be better. Suffolk probably. Or one of the RAN examples, Trumpeter not being Japanese don't have to restrict themselves to ships sunk by the IJN.

It'll probably come right after the Belfast..
