I am using the caveat that these are "Ships," even if Starships/Spaceships, to ask if anyone knows if the reboot of Legends of the Galactic Heroes will be getting a set of Starship models like the original 1980s/90s Animated series did (even if they were Gashapon, and not actual "Models")?

I cannot recall of the top of my head who made the original Gashapon sets, but they were surprisingly detailed and complete (it is a pity that WWII or WWI fleets are not as Complete as the Galactic Empire or Free People’s Alliance Fleets of that series).

The new series has beautifully re-designed ships that are massively more detailed than the original ships, even if containing slightly less variety.

I have tried asking the few people I know in the Anime and Manga industry in Japan, but they are surprisingly closed mouth about it (which made me suspicious).

The gashapons are not particularly good, they are made out of soft pvc plastic and tend to warp, not to mention the typical poor finish and painting. It was originally released under yellow submarine brand, as individual gashapons or boxed sets. I have the complete box set but nothing special in my opinion. They are about 1/12000 for major ships, various other scales for smaller combatants and even figures.

10 years ago first Wave, then re-branded Wright Stuff released re-mastered, abs plastic ships under the series Fleet File Collection. They are of the same 1/12000 scale. They are now sold under Alba-Create which also do many 1/5000 resin kits of the ships.

The Fleet File Collection series are much sharper in detail and painting, each box comes with assorted 5-10 ships. I'm aware of a total of 12 volumes released:

vol.1 (original under Wave), hard to find and most expensive on the market
vol.1R (renewal of vol.1, available but some different content to vol.1)
vol 3R most recent release (about 2016? not that common from shops but you can probably order direct from Alba-Create)
And the rest being normal vols 2-10 are reasonably common last I checked.

I have that first hard to hard box (with the massive transport ships). I'm using it as reference to make my own 1/5000 kits of the Alliance and Empire transport ships, as I have most of the Able Creates 1/5000 resin kits.

Nice. My vol.1 is a bit beaten up. Still looking for a reasonable priced 2nd copy for safe keeping..

But I did acquire separately the pre-order special (unpainted kit of the transport ship and Perceval).

I almost missed 3R, it wasn't widely available from shops and it filled one gap (alliance carriers) that the old gashapon had over Fleet File Collection.

I will have to look into getting the Fleet File ships.

I have some of the Gashapons, and yes, they are not particularly detailed.

I have (or had - it now belongs to a friend in SF) one of the 1/500 Ships. I think it was the Asgrim (one of the black ships from the series).

But I see the Fleet File Boxes are for sale on Amazon and Hobby Search both.

Here's the Alba Create website; I believe a one man company that make the 1/5000 resin kits when you can find them.

http://www.alba-creates.com/

Google it and you can run it thu the translator.

And I should probably build this someday or those 1/5000 transports I'm modeling (in Solidworks, to be printed btw) will be lonely

Empire Hospital ship in 1/5000. Limited run. I got mine at HLJ sometime ago.

It’s the König Tieger that I had. I notice there are a couple for sale, and that HLJ has quite a few of the Alba Create ships in stock (both Empire and Alliance).

Thanks for the links.

I am not sure why, at this point, but I might buy a few, given how simple they are to build.
