Keep your eyes open and your fingers crossed that we will see the return of Ships and Company with the release of a U.S.S. Whidbey Island in 1/700 possibly first or second quarter of 2011. Long hard road for these fellows but you have to respect them for they haven't given up the fight to market a line of never done before USN subjects.
You are also overlooking OKB Grigorov who is rocking the submarine modelers world with their never been offered before, full hull Russian and USN offerings. What good collector would not have a submarine in their fleet ...I ask you? A U.S.S. George Washington SSBN is due to be released in quantity. First time, done in resin, full hull and 1/700.
Who knows....Ships and Company and OKB maybe the tip of the spear in a resin counter-offensive against Chinese mold injected subjects which were done before in mold injected and resin
I'm a 1/700 USN hobbyist who builds resin and mold injected. I'm the type of hobbyist that manufacturers dread for I exercise discipline and restraint over my collection. I purchase never been done before subjects and superior quality. I'm a moderately skilled modeler, ease of building is important but secondary for I'm a ship modeler who has to accept frustration and lack of superior skills.
With the exception of Dragon's releases of the 1/700 Bensons and Essexes and OKB's USN offerings, my wallet has remained closed in 2010.
