Snowman 1/350 Akitsushima

This has been announced quite while ago on Facebook, but now is fully on sale , the interesting thing , Hasegawa offered this one several years ago in an absurd price of $500 USD for a 30 cm (12' lnch) long vessel ,Today's price nearly the half ,still expensive ,but quite interesting ship.

I feel sorry for the guys who bought this thing at $500 USD , now is much better with a 3D printed plane and custom photoetch set, IMHO much better than Hasegawa offering

Actually the Hasegawa price was under USD $300 (28000 JPY), but the problem was it was sold only in Japan. I bought one.
I am a bit curious that out of all unusual subjects this company picked this specific ship (that conveniently enough already existed in resin). Why not Akashi for example... Another odd and yet very interesting subject.

How long ago??? The price jumped to 400 Quid ,You bought it long time ago so those $300 USD are different today, anyway now is much cheaper and better @ $260 USD in Hobbyeasy

I bought it when it was released (many moons ago). And the 28000 was the retail price. What you seem to refer to (400-500) is after market price that is expected to go up since it was limited release for the Japanese market. The reason I posted was that you said that Hasegawa offered it for $500 which is simply incorrect. The Hasegawa's MSRP is pretty much the same as this offering. And for the record, this Snowman version is offered in Japan now for 50400 JPY. LOL

Right, but that price lasted shortly, cause was a resin model and just a few 100's models were produced, then the price rocketed and BTW 28000 yen are now $ 250 USD , so your $300 bucks are something different in this moment,my point is the original Hasegawa was totally overpriced , and for the guys who are buying that model in HLJ ,good for them for wasting money, even Ebay has this in $290 USD shipping included and Hobbyeasy best price so far in $260 USD ,so again those Japanese fellows are smoking something strong.

Orange Hobby releases in 1/700 and 1/350:

Taiwanese (ROC) Tuo Chiang class corvette

They offer know also a 1/700 McDonnell Douglas 500MD/ASW helicopter - perhaps there are more Taiwanese ships to be released soon?

In 1/350 they released the DDG-925 De Yang, which had that helicopter...

They mention on FB that there is something special for the first 350 orders (translation sucks) but how can you order? Seems their website is down?

Cool news, especially all the 1/700 variants of the Sverdlov class!

Also the armoured cruiser of the Black Prince and Warrior class are very good news! :woo_hoo:

Will these ships also released in 1/700?

Could I suggest that the 1/350 version provides the opportunity to achieve within the same kit more than one version of PR 68 bis ?

seems to have been a problem in the posting of my message, as my text appears in the middle of the pictures. So I give it here again :

Could I suggest that the 1/350 version also provides the possibility to achieve, within the same kit, different versions of PR 68 A ?

Unfortunetely No
3D-model in 1/350 is designed only for project 68A.
Combrig decided to make only 1 cruiser on this scale.

But modellers can rebuild this model into over cruisers (68-bis, 70-E, 68-U1/68-U2) using handmade decals and handmade PE.
it is difficult, but not unrealistic

Resin full hull models in 1/350 scale are not so popular and too expensive, so the company's marketing decided not to make other cruisers. Only Kutuzov, because it is the most famous and known cruiser of Sverdlov-class. For the same reason, the Russian Empire battleship Pobeda will not be made in 1/350. After low sales models of battleships Peresvet and Oslyabya.

@ SilverGhost:

Do you know anything about the 1/700 kits of the icebreaker Lenin, the destroyer leader of the Leningrad class (Project 1), and the armoured cruiser Dupuy de Lôme?

I don't know about their plans about these ships in 1/700.

OK, I understand. I might try to modify one Kutuzov for a Murmansk or Lazarev.
Anyway, I checked pictures of the corvettes, and I am really interested by the most futurist ones !

I wonder if Armo's release of Dupuy de Lome in 1/700 last year has anything to do with this. This is a very basic kit which has some mistakes that are difficult to correct (deck planking and wrong boat stowage platform) but its relatively low price will take away sales from a possible Kombrig kit.

I do not think so - there was also the Yumematu kit of Dupuy de Lôme long before Combrig announced the kit. It has also the problem with the wrong boat deck. I had decided to wait for the Combrig kit and not buy the one by Armo. Unfortunately there is nobody posting for Combrig here anymore to clarify these points.

Also AFAIK the Kombrig Dupuy will come first in 1/350 scale and then later ,they will release the 1/700 ,a bit sad that only waterline on the Dupuy, but it is fine , for sure will be a KO,for me is a must have (love this horrible ship :lol_3: )

She seems to be interesting for manufacturers though. There's a chinese kit on E*** which looks like a direct copy of the Armo kit. BTW I did not mean to slag off Armo . They are nice but basic kits and the mistake on Dupuy de Lome is unfortunately very common.
