I'm plugging along in 3 ships right now and on my German Navy I have the Z1. I'm one BO lvl from getting a Z31 but the question is do I need or want it? The Z1 with 5 dual 4.1s is pretty fun when I do my part but what's with the weird gun spacing on the Z31? Front turret of 81 space and rear turrets (3x) at 51 space How can that be paired up and have all turrets group? I'm assuming they expect you to mount a larger gun on the front turret?

I'm not convinced that the Z31 is better but I'd like some input.

Thanks,
Jeff (SSkrull)

Yeah, historically, Z31 had a dual gun in front, and singles in the back. I'm not sure of their range though, whether it matches up. Since I'm a high-angle addict, I stay with the Z1, for its 4.1".

It isn't. Don't bother with the Z31 until around level 22/23 for Z42/Z52 or whatsuch. Z42/Z52 are both very capable remodels.

Not only your damage per second will be lower with Z31, it's actually harder to hit with what will add up to around 2 dual mounts (if attempting to use 5.9" guns).

I personally just used the Z1 > D38 > z99 Route. Feel free to actually skip the Z31 unless you're running out of Displacement.

I used 5.9" dual with heavy ammo (I think) on the front gun, and 2 I think 3.46" duals with light ammo on the back. Range was the same, and it worked for me.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm around level 22 now I think...

Trying to rank up a Jap and German B.O. at the same time.

How about the Z31's upgrades, Z46 or Z51... Identical except for turret placement right? I assume one is for the player who's a charger and one for who's a runner ?

When you start to lose speed, that is when you start sinking. Adding bulkhead allows you to stay afloat for longer. Does not affect amount of damage taken. I once put something like 200 bulk in my Sirius and even at around one thousand DP, I was still rolling at full speed.
