I'm trying to come up with various bits of deck hardware. I've always felt that our models aren't "cluttery" enough. Anyway, this is meant to replicate a 51 inch, or thereabouts, oxygen bottle. It could be placed perhaps in a cruiser's hangar as added visual interest, or if someone is doing a dockside diorama, say a repair scene. Currently waiting on a test print. Thoughts? Anything I'm missing? Are other bottle sizes necessary, as well, or is this okay as is?

Some ships had gas bottles attached to external (and internal) bulkheads. The CLGs had nitrogen bottles everywhere - dry nitrogen was used to charge hydraulic accumulators. We also had , oxygen and helium bottles. These bottles were all the same size. For a while they were color coded with the entire bottle painted a color specific for the gas. Then they were all painted green with a small color band at the top below the removable cap.

The ships also had acetylene bottles attached to external bulkheads. These were slightly shorter than the other bottles but larger diameter. Ours were painted yellow but I have also seen black acetylene bottles.

You can see examples of how they were stowed in pictures on this page:

Many thanks, thank you! I was thinking about doing a few more sizes after this version prints and I ca check it for accuracy. You've given me a few ideas.

Bottles racked up, thank you DrPR! I can do other variations and sizes, and will as soon as the 1/144th Fletcher stuff is finished up. I'll order test prints shortly and if they come out alright, they'll be opened up for sale.
