I was trying to decide what fit to put on my Fairmile D build and got interested in the Molins 6 Pdr, basically an army anti-tank gun which had been modified by Molins (a cigerette machine manufacturer) to turn it into an automatic weapon and fitted into Mosquito bombers to hunt surface U-Boats. The Navy adapted it for the Dog Boat to help put down the tough coastal barges hauling coal and ore around Europe and Norway. But although there are loads of photos of the army gun and the mosquito variant I can find only one of the Navy version so decided to try and see if I could work out some of the details, the model offered with Deans and other kits did not seem to match the photo.

The original gun:

A photo of the Naval variant:

And my effort to date:

This gun has an auto-loader coupled (the tray with the rounds). From what I understand, not all the guns had such a device. :wave_1:

That would figure, some text accounts say the gun only had a six round magazine, but it is clear on the photo that it holds more than six. The lack of a rocket flare launcher too suggests it may well be a prototype, perhaps one that never saw active service.

Not too knowledgeable about the gun itself , but the CAD work looks good.

Thanks Cadman, slowly getting the hang of it! Would love to make it working but I think that is classed as running while still trying to figure out walking!

Jose, it is not in Vol 1 but I believe Vol 2 is now out and it may be in that, I will see if I can order it from the library. Failing that John lists the plans as for sale on his site, I was just having trouble justifying the cost to myself for a one off build.

Hi..
I´ve got both volumes. I can´t remember in which one they are included, but there are some very good drawings in there, for sure....
Let me know if I can be of some assistance to you... :thumbs_up_1:

Jose, any help appreciated, if the gun is included in Vol 2 it would be handy to know.

TShipley, 3DS Max, the same, check the thread Frameup for my efforts on a ship with the same program, the biggest problem I have found is a long thin shape like a ship is awkward to work with, by comparison the gun was easy as it is more "square" I will be going back to the Naiad design soon as I am need to work out the plastic cutting for the actual model superstructure.
