So before I bore the wrong size holes and place them too high or low.
Does anyone know the size of the portholes on the Iowa class ships, And how high off the deck they were.
I know there were two sizes. The larger ones were at the officers wardroom. the rest were the small ones.

Port holes are 12" dia and airports are 16" dia.
They are about 5' 3'' up from the deck
The Floating Drydock's "USS Missouri Plan book" can tell you where the portholes and airports are located for a WWII Iowa.

The officers wardroom is one location that has the airports.
There are a couple of others but it varies from ship to ship and the time frame of the ship.
There are also a couple of armored airports in several areas.

Also look here at Calling all Ship Fans thread.
