Hi, I am building a 1/50 scale Danish Willemoes FAC and would like some advice on building the unusually shaped deck gun.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hello Cliffy,
Thank you for the drawings, they will certainly help. Looks like it is going to take a bit of time to get that shape right as very few photographs of the gun even show the narrowing at the rear.
Thanks again Cheers GaryM

Interesting project. I'm not even sure it narrows aft. I've been standing next to one and didn't quite notice any narrowing there...

Please show your project and how it's coming along, never saw a model of that class!

This is a model in a Danish Museum which attracted my attention and has started my research into the Willemoes Class

here is a pic of the back of the turret. I'm not sure were I got it so I can't give credit.

it is the back of the 76/62 on a Canadian DDH 280 Tribal class destroyer.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the photograph, however the Willemoes appears to have an earlier model of gun.

Hi, I just saw this, and I can tell that the gun used on the Willemoes-Class isn't the one shown at the large picture, and I'm quite sure that the gun shown on the model, which I think could be from the museum in Aalborg, isn't the correct one too. All pictures I have found of this ship show the same gun, and according to the Navy informations the gun that was used on this wessel is described as the OTO-Melara 76mm Mk M/71 LvSa, and it's even different from the version that the Danish Navy used later for the Standard Flex Class - even if they look similar.
I do write this too, just to hear how the project is developing?
I've seen the model at the museum too, and I've previoulsly often seen the ship in the harbour of my town, and for quite some time I've been lokking for prints as I would like to build this ship, but I had no luck, so how did you manage?
Regards
Steffen, Denmark
