thats cool.well i be back later going to have breaky and work out were to fit propeller shafts and stuff.wondeer how many of your wifes put up with model making.mines not any bit interested in it.so i can do pretty much what i want apart from toxic fumes round the place

well us old guys can do what we want, the wife also not interested, she would sooner put then in a trash can,

nice sub.what kind is it????

It's a German Type XX1, built from a Robbe Kit. 1/40 scale Length 2.2 Metres, weighs 22kg. Dynamic Diving Model ( that means it doesn't have ballast tanks)
It is ballasted to decks level, and is driven underwater, by the forward and after hydroplanes, tilted downwards and full speed. Once under, you can level off the planes and she will stay under for as long as you dare risk where she is. To surface, you can use the planes whilst at full throttle, or shut of the throttle, and she will automatically surface.
Longest underwater run so far is about 100 meters, whilst turning.
It will dive to about 10ft without loosing signal.
I thought I had lost it the other day, as I shut of the throttle and it took several minuites, before the top of the conning tower broke surface.
When I brought it to the side, there was a great clump of weed, wrapped around the front hydroplanes. and it was preventing it to surface quickly.

I though I had lost £300 worth of boat for a few minutes, until I saw the conning tower break the surface.

@#@# that was lucky that you got the sub back.would it be better in a big swimming pool without weed at least you can see it.

There are not many swimming pools that will allow you to run them, because of oil from the shafts. I much prefer our lake, looks better too, especially when there are other ships sailing.
This is the best time of the year to run sub's ( our winter) because of the weed problem. There is hardly any weed present at this time of year, and the clump I tangled with was some loose stuff, which was just floating below the surface.

cool:)its summer here like 30 on days and 80-90%humidity which i hate with a passion.i belive winter in the uk was cold this year?let hope all works with the sub.hey you dont want to surface and theres someone vessel about be embarrasing not.

hello cool model tommy.yes i am model i am trying to fix the shaft and bossings on the bloody thing.i think i have got it once the glue has dried i will see if it worked and post a image here later tonite.but i think i have it.

hello i have put the shaft brackets on.i had only the profile and a crap photo of her in drydock.i hope they look ok and alined.if not please let me know.i have these 3 photos.cheers matt

They look okay Matt, Just one thing to remember though, If you are going to make it for Radio Control, that you have enough clearance for the motors, inside the hull. The outside shafts, must not be too close to the sides, otherwise, your motors will not fit in.
Looking at the photos, it is hard to tell whether there is enough clearance, on the outside shafts. Photos can be deceiving. Not a critisism, just trying to help.
