Hi all.

I have a fairly decent collection of Neptun 1/1250 scale WWII RN and Albatros Modern RN.

I love the models but I do want to give them a bit more of a realistic look to them. I am therefore interested in doing the following

1. Stripping the paint
2. Painting with proper WEM paints (no camo just greys)
3. Rigging
4. Railings

I would be grateful if you could all help me with the above. I have a HMS Emerald as my Guinea pig and I would especially like advice on stripping the paint as some bits of the model are glued and also on rigging.

I would like to know what other ready made materials can be used for rigging at this scale other than sprue.

Furthe I know toms works does p/e railings at this scale but not sure how it will look.

Lastly for the flag staffs what material should I use and at what length I already have 1/1250 flags here

Thank you for the advice in advance

Can't really help on much other than rigging material, try "caenis" fly-tying thread, very cheap, very strong and very thin.

Hope this helps

Strip the paint easily with automotive brake fluid (I have done this with GHQ 1/2400 and 1250 Nep/Navis as well as any styrene parts with fantastic results every time) just soak the ship for a day or maybe more and then wash and rinse with dish soap let dry and prime with metal primer in airbrush or spray can. A light coat is best let dry and paint again. Don't use brake fluid on resin parts because they turn soft.
