I'm modeling pre-war (WWII) U.S. vessels, which had more portholes than manufacturers
usually portray them, as they were closed over/welded shut for combat duty. What's the
best way to add portholes to a 1/350 ship? I though about resin decals, like Archer makes,
and sure enough someone did make them, but apparently not any longer. There are photo
etch portholes, though. However, if one went with photo etch, it seems to me you'd want to
replace ALL the portholes with photo etch... maybe there isn't an easy answer?

Hi, Aggie
1 ) I have to find a solution to similar problem with portholes on my HMCS Huron. I found from North Stars model PE parts : 1/350 Porthole (sidescuttles) with visor 1,2 mm size (in clear), but sad is, there are not not in production now. Image

2) Yes, there exist possible to use simple method how to do portholes. If you see this tutorial from Model Shipwrights HERE

Modeler Tailor from Germany used for his MSW Build Contest- Leipzig, 1/400, Full Build only cooper wire a glued it over driled holes.

I found this casually, if i check his tutorial " How to do water base display" in the same link.

Good luck.
