Dear Modelers,

one of a basic element of a good historic sailboat model is rigging blocks. Manufacture a quality blocks is very difficult, especially in huge amount. Therefore our company HiSModel manufacture and offer CNC blocks from walnut wood of premium quality. We produce a huge assortment of block in size from 2 to 12 mm. Standard simple blocks, double blocks and tripple blocks in size from 2 to 10mm. Furthermore violin blocks, sheed block blocks and heart blocks in size from 4 to 12mm. A table with size and signification is in link below. Also a photos you can find in link below. Please be informed that the photos of blocks are significantly magnified.

Offered blocks you can find here:

It is important to know where, which and how big blocks we can use. If you are not sure of the blocks size you need for your model, you can use attached table. The table is based on information from book Historic Model Ship by Wolfram zu Monfeld, pages 272 and 308. Equipment - the calculation of rope diameter and block size you can download from my website here: https://www.hismodel.com/use-of-blocks

In this Excel table, simply enter the required scale of the model and a diameter of the main mast on the main deck. All other dimensions of ropes and blocks are calculated on the basis of this table.

To make it easier, I am preparing ready-made plans of rigging according to the original materials. In these plans, you can find drawn recommended blocks according unambiguous symbols. Plans prepared in this way for individual models can be found together with other accessories on my website here: https://www.hismodel.com/articles-category-12

In next of my article I will mention how to use and tie the blocks correctly. Also I will add individual plans.

In case of any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

Wish you a beautiful models.
