I am thinking about trying to build a "Flying Dutchman" I know that there is a kit or two on the market, and one is said to "glow in the dark" I'm thinking that if I paint the kit in the colours I actually like, and then use invisible green UV paint it might actually glow? Has anyone given this a shot? Advice? There are several companies out there that make invisible UV paint. Has anyone worked with these mediums? I think it'd go nicely with the Zvezda Black Pearl if I eventually get that kit. :heh:

I think the kit that advertises it as glow-in-the-dark actually comes with just such a paint, though I have no idea whether it's UV activated or what.

Here's an add on to that idea.....

What about displaying it under a black-light ?

or........

Maybe you could get Navy Dave to stick it out a port hole the next time they pass the Fukishima reactor.

It's my understanding that phosphorescent paints react readilly with black light. If it's "glow in the dark" it should shine brightly under UV or black light.

IIRC, those "glow in the dark" kits, like those that were made by Aurora back in the day, had the glow "stuff" added into the plastic itself, rather than including a special paint.

I would definitely try to see what happens under blacklight BEFORE using any kind of paint .Some of those paints DO NOT like plastic , believe it or not , with or without primer !! I had a " BLACK FALCON " years ago that my son wanted to be able to see at night .I used some I got at our craft store .That stuff stayed sticky for months till I put the thing in the oven (I,VE heard of BAKED ALASKA but , baked pirate ship?) It didn,t melt and the paint dried but it was duller than before . I tried misting another fresh coat on and it did the same thing , so , back to the oven . Came out okay . This time though It really glowed out loud .Blacklight made it almost to bright . Well , there you have it . commodore4
