Hi all.

I just wanted to pass along a neat program that I found which expands depth of focus when shooting photos in the macro setting. The program is called CombineZM, an open-source program that is similar to other type programs and the best part is it is free. Here is an example of what can be achieved.

I like it!

Great soft - thanks. I will try to apply it to my Grosser Kurfurst photos.

Yes Timmy, the same type of program. The problem I have with Helicon software is the fee. I'm all for paying for stuff that works and and I can use, but I don't think it's fair to charge a yearly fee for a program. Just like OpenOffice is a open-source version of Microsoft Office, CombineZM is open-source too. The program isn't perfect, I find that I have to crop the picture to get rid of artifact at the edges, but that's OK with me. And if I was doing professional work my attitude would be different. The only situation that I can see the use of this type of program is taking pictures of my models. Other macro photography, such as flowers or outdoor stuff probably wouldn't work as well as the process depends on a tripod and fixed subject matter so that all pictures in a series are framed identical.
