I have been reading the smoke making method thread below,

is there actually such a product available in a store ?

I read in the thread that Warhammer seems to make something like it--is there a link to this product?

Its a subject raised by poster aleccap in the previous "making smoke" thread below -
Interesting subject!

Ref: commercially available products...

The Model Railway world has smoke generators intended for fitment to (lectrically powered ) model steam locomotives, Seuth and Vollmer are two manufacturer that spring to mind.

Alas...whilst these units do make (white) smoke--it is akin to Cigarette smoke in texture, not 1:87 scale!!, leave alone 1/350 or 1/700...

ie ===>> the smoke is just too.... BIG !! and as such looks - in my view- even for the larger scales used in railway modelling ... completely unrealistic!!- although I am happy to be proven wrong!

I have been unable to locate an off the shelf product to simulate static model smoke effectively as yet... quite a few refs to military modelling smoke methods on the internet ...

here is one that gave a fair effect
http://santacruzwarhammer.blogspot.com/ ... chive.html

maybe a trawl of Youtube might yield a useful method ?

Good luck :thumbs_up_1:

Welcome to the forum, I hope you will be a regular contributor.

Whilst smoke on a model is a very difficult effect to achieve, you can fake it quite well on photographs using Photoshop or similar, might not be ideal but as most people will see your work online rather than in the flesh, you could cheat a little...

Hello Guest, Are you looking for this effect on a static model??? If so , you can use hairspray glue and cotton. If you pull the cotton ,(after you,ve attached it to the inside of the stack) With a very fine BRASS wire brush(looks like a fingernail type brush.)And pull the corron until you get the thickness you want. while holding the cotton in its stretch hit it with extra hold, odor free hair spray.Give it time to set and you have smoke. You can then tint it with acrylic paint and your airbrush! This is what I do in that type of setting. It has worked for me for over thirty years now! Try it. commodore4

Hope this assists
