as in my previous post i have bought a new airbrush. it is a Paasche VL. it came with one needle in the brush and two spares, one is very thin and the other is thick. i assume the different size's are for pattern size. however what is the best for general painting?

Needle size influences the ammount of paint and area. THe larger can be used for larger surfaces and the smaller for smaller. You can use the larger one for the hull, and the smaller one with detail, as you need to spray it from all directions and don't want it to clog

Be aware that you can't just swap out the needles; the spray tip is matched to the needle. If you try using the needle with the wrong tip, at best you'll just get a lot of splatter, at worst, you'll split the tip and be out of luck.
