I believe that the USS America CVA66 was the only supper carrier to be built with a sonar dome. And also a center bow anchor to clear the sonar dome. I also believe the sonar equipment and the dome were removed in the 80's. I'm building a 1:350 model of the America using a Trumpeter Constellation hull. Since Constellation didn't have sonar, no sonar dome. Can anyone help me with a photo of America's sonar dome (which she had at her commissioning in 1965.

Thanks,
Walt

Would anyone have any detail shots of the LRLS bar on the fantail? Specifically the vertical yellow bar that actually holds the lights. I’m making a 1/144 diorama that will include this and am looking for some detail photos to help with scratch-building. Thank you for any input!

Thank you! But I am looking for the LRLS on the fantail. Not the IFLOLS. It's the vertical yellow bar in this picture, but I'm hoping for closer pics since I'm trying to do this at 1/144 scale.

The Floating Drydock sells a photo DVD with several decent close up pics of this area.

Thank you, I'll have to look in to that.
