On Ray's Forrestal CD it shows the overhang on the Indy does not come to the edge of the flightdeck. I wonder why that is so?

Good question. I have the Forrestal Class CV and Ranger cds which I was able to look at recently. Both are great additions to the collection & the photos are excellent to work from.

Some nice work there Nick! Where did you find your aircraft? Did you make them yourself?

Thanks for the kind words guys!!

Nope, those planes are all from Trumpeter. It should have been a mind blogging experience if I made it myself. I am planning on adding more aircraft in the future!

gtb, How's your 3 scratchbuilt carriers? It must have been troublesome making 3 carrier hulls at once!

Nick

Another question, somewhere along the way I am sure you said what scale your model ship was; With that in mind, I am planing to build a 1/350th CV-62 circa 1959-62, or 1/192 scale, I haven't really decided yet. When I place an order for planes, what scale would I order them at? I have never ordered planes before so that's why I am asking. If you have a 1/350th scale ship, what scale would the planes be? I apologize in advance if that seems like a dumb question.

It doesn't matter what scale you order the plans at - you can always just resize them so that they match the scale of your ship. To directly use the plans' drawings, the plans would be in the same scale as your ship. However, due to the loss in quality when enlarging plans, it is generally better to get plans that are the same scale or larger than your model.

For working with scale conversions, I have posted a brief introduction here (refer to "Converting between Scales" at the bottom):

I think maybe there is a misunderstanding. I didn't mean plans as in drawings but planes as in aircraft.

Well, I read it & to answer your question, you want to order the same scale planes as your ship.

when you make up your mind. order 1/350 planes for your 1/350 carrier. as for 1/192 scale i think you have to scratchbuilt the planes. I haven't seen any at that scale. by the way Trumpter and Tamiya has the 1/350 planes. :wave_1:
