You are welcome :thumbs_up_1: Don't beg our pardon for your English. There is no problem till we understand what you want to know  If you visit the bismarck-class.dk site you can see more nice drawings from Mr Bonomi. I think it will be useful for your building project.

Ciao all,

Abram model shows perfectly the Tirpitz colours on Faettenfjord area were Tirpitz was hidden on May/June 1942.

No doubts, the colours were Green and Brown on one side only, the other side was left as it was before on grey as there was no need to paint it as teh ship was anchored aside the hill.

Morskie book shows it perfectly in colours.

The greenish photo confused somebody that wrongly thougth it was grey.

There is a much better quality original photo existing on the hands on few selected persons that shows it was green and brown without any greenish effect due to poor qualiy reproduction : the debate is closed forever.

Any help you may need on Tirpitz and Bismarck camouflages, just feel free to ask, no problems to help everybody.

Ciao Antonio :thumbs_up_1:

Hi,

It's a good question. I have this book too and it's my only source which shows the ship in green (I mean with green stripes) in that time frame. Any other source shows her in different camos using different shades of gray. The Tirpitz was sent to north to operate against convoys and let's not forget about operation Sicily. I don't think the Germans would have applied green in a grey and white enviroment, thus I don't know Mr Skwiot's sources but I would not use green.

Gabor, the camo in question was only applied to one side, as she was anchored with that one side facing the shore, thus the green was of benefit - remember, Norway is not always white, the green blended it in against the terrain where she was docked. I'd take Antonio's word on the scheme, because the man is essentially THE man when it comes to Kriegsmarine colour questions.

Nimitz, new faces and new pics are always welcome - you don't have to worry about the pictures so long as the width is 800 or less when posted. Please, resize them up to that, let's see the beauty of those images, they look quite impressive from what I can see, and bigger would make them so much more impressive!

Well, maybe you are right and they used green. But as I've already written I don't know Mr Skwiot's sources and I saw this green camo only in his book.

Sorry, but I could not find an answer in this forum on this subject. I'm building a Tamiya 1/350 Bismarck and I will like to upgrade the kit AA guns with some aftermarket products (resin, PE, white metal). I would greatly appreciate any information from you about this subject.

Thanks,

Jorge Martinez

WEM #PE 3566. Superb quality. I´ve bought it for my Revell 1/350 Bismarck.

Thank you for the info Drazen. My model is from Tamiya; I've read that it is not as detailed as Revell's, but I bought this kit a long time ago.
Still, I believe it is a good kit with the exception opf the AA guns. I've already enhanced the model with GMM PE and some other stuff. I'll look up WEM PE soon.

Happy modeling,

Jorge Martinez

Have anyone outthere tried Eduard's 1/350 German AA Guns? How does it compare to WEM's?

Happy modelling!

@ Dave

Do you have any information when it will appear? I hope the fit is better as on Bismarck and we don´t have to wait so long to get etched parts.

Best regards

Marc
