Understood -- thank you! I can see how builds would otherwise clutter the topic.

Returning to the theme of "the ships that started the war", I found the following, which is an excerpt from the address given by KzS Kleikamp to the ship's crew before arriving in Danzig. as entered into the ship's war diary:

I have received the order to arrive tomorrow morning in Danzig instead of the Königsberg, which had been scheduled for an official visit at this time.
The visit is to be entirely peaceful at first; it is however to be expected that during our stay in the Free City of Danzig, the Danzig Question will be resolved, and that it may come to intervention through force of arms. The ship has the task to participate in the defense of Danzig with all of its available weapons. Today’s march to Danzig will be conducted peacefully. This evening around dusk, we are meeting up with the 1st Mine Search Flotilla, which will serve as a mine-and anti-submarine escort for the ship. After dark, a company of stormtroopers will be taken aboard from the M-boats – they must be accommodated within the ship and may not appear topside. They will be available to me for a special operation during the battles we are expecting in Danzig. The crowdedness which will result on board must be accepted and tolerated; everyone must help to ensure that service operations are maintained and that living together continues without friction.

Beginning this afternoon all efforts will be directed to arming ammunition; combat watch will begin at 4:00 PM. I anticipate that the night will pass quietly, and that we will be able to come to Danzig and enter port without incident. Docking will proceed emphatically inconspicuously, although the ship will otherwise be battle-ready…”

Very interesting thread! I recently bought the Trumpeter Schleswig Holstein 1935 kit and want to represent it as it was on September 01, 1939, when WWII started. As far as I have checked, the only differences are the location of the AAs (and I think the 150mm cannons, but I will use metal barrels anyway). Now back to the AAs, reading this thread, looking at the pictures and at the videos, I think I got all the single 20mm positions, but I am having issues finding out exactly where the 20mm C30 Flakvierling was located, just "...and one 2.0cm C/30 Vierling gun added to the port side-rear boat deck...". Any images available showing the Vierling in place? I have plotted the positions of the AAs in the image below, together with the pictures where I got the information from. The rear port 20mm needs an extension of the deck just like the one on the starboard side. The rest I don't think need any further work apart from replacing the structures in place for the aftermaket 20mm.

Well how could I have known, the Flakvierling is actually shown in one of the pictures that I posted above, ain’t it funny? Just have to know where to look for. Mystery solved, can proceed assembling my Schleswig Holstein 1939.

I'm trying but... I'm still not seeing it in the photos. Where did it end up being? In the spot you guessed?

Hi Sean, no, not where I had guessed. It was located amidships, on the rear part of the port boat deck as shown below. It can clearly be seen shooting in several youtube videos.

Once you know where it is, you can´t miss it!!!
