If the upload is correct, here is a very good shot of Nagato, showing the heptapodal mast in a configuration probably very close to her late half sister...

Soon a 1/700 IJN Tosa is due to be announced after the release of 1/700 IJN Amagi by the usual suspect, Fujimi.Definitely a summer release.
By the way, we need an IJN Amagi class thread here too

I think better idea is to rename this thread to "Calling all IJN Tosa and IJN Amagi class fans".

Thank you Timmy ! :thumbs_up_1:
Back at Fujimi's IJN Amagi. I was drifiting my IJN Amagi's main turrets and I notice that the number 5# and number 1# turret had a rrangefinder. Im asking if there is a plan or something that can confirm that. Also does anyone knows if the planned IJN Tosa, IJN Amagi and IJN Kii class had the same 40cm main guns that was used on IJN Nagato class ?

Fujimi's IJN Amagi in 1/700 has overcome every expectations regarding sales for Fujimi so I think we are closer to a IJN Tosa too :)

Sweet! They even gave it an airplane with a flying-off platform!
(Though why they'd mold one of those old open-cockpit biplanes in clear plastic is a bit puzzling - just for those nigh-invisible-in-1/700 windscreens?)
And are those funnels molded in a single piece that I see there? No sanding out the seam between the left and right halves? Looks like Fujimi went all-out on this and aren't treating it like a "Just be happy we made one for you ship geeks" kind of thing. (Granted, I'd've probably bought one anyway, but still...)

I can assure you, the work/casting on IJN Amagi is comparable with the rest of Fujimi's offerings in 1/700, that have seen the light of day recently. That means, high detail and realistic casting of parts.

I've got two Amagis on the way from Japan right now, and am about to order two more. At least one will be built to my interpretation of an Owari-class fast BB version. Guess I'd better get the IHP No.13 BB kits revamped and retooled to match the Amagi's quality I see so far.

Anyone doing brass barrels for IJN 16"?

There you go:
Link 1 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10119993
or
Link 2 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10112227
You can use also the 14cm Barrels for IJN Amagi's secondery guns.

Edit:Mike@IHP, where I can find an online Imperial Hobby Productions catalog ? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the barrel info! IHP's website is currently down for work, but you can find some of our available ship kits on our eBay Store.

My Amagi kits arrived the other day (that was FAST!!!! ), and I am very impressed!

The kits make use of much slide moulding (looks like that's the new trend for quality plastic kits) and this may be the first plastic ship kit I have seen with the funnels moulded OPEN in one piece! I didn't notice it at first and thought the kit was missing a parts sprue for the other funnel halves. Also, the decks have camber, they're not just flat! My only disappointment is the waterline plate fits into the bottom of the hull. I'd prefer it the way it's been done for decades, with a colored plate that forms a boot topping, but I can live with this.

I hope the Tosa is this nice!

Thanks,

Mike Bartel

Yeah I notice that too and is a bit strange why Fujimi choose that way with the waterline hull.

IJN's Amagi and Tosa class secondary armament was 14 cm or 20 cm single ones ? The Aircraft carriers versions at least had 20 cm single ones.

I should be starting my Amagi next week. The first one will be built from the box, no paint, PE or brass barrels. Just want to get used to how it builds.

Here's a link to IHP's Apprentice Series kits:

To see what's on the eBay Store, go to eBay and look for ihphobby2 in the eBay Community page.

Thanks,

Mike Bartel
