Hi All

I plan to backdate Heller's Richelieu to the 1940 version. Is there a site which has pictures/drawings of Director 1?
In the plans from the book "Richelieu" by Maciej S. Sobanski, the rear director atop the mack seems very similar. Could I get away with copying the Heller kit part?

You mean the director just behind the funnel ? As far as I know that remain the same till the end of Richelieu's life.

The one I mean is above the funnel.

did you refere to this in the annex? hope than help

Yes that's the position I'm referring to, although the director was slightly different in 1940. There was a similar director on top of the bridge super-structure in 1940, making 3 in total (one on top of the other). I'm hoping that the missing director was similar enough to the one above the funnel for me to make a copy from the Heller kit part.

Yes, the third part on the pre 1943 MN Richelieu's rangefinders where the same as the one in the funnel. After the 1943 refit the one in the bridge removed and only two remained, while the one in the funnel remained the same.

That rangefinder was responsible for the 15,2 cm turrets. But after the 1943 and with the plethora of AA guns the secondaries where allowed to fire only abaft(and not forward if possible). It was removed also for weight saving measures.

Question:
On the book "British, Soviet, French and Dutch Battleships of WWII" by William H. Garzke Jr. and Robert O. Dulin Jr. in page 97 it states that Richelieu during her stay at UK at February 1944 they where added eleven single 40mm bofors and nine single Oerlikons removed.
Anyone knows the postion of the single 40mm bofors and wich exactly single Oerlikons removed or if this is correct ?

I hope you guys can help an old armor guy out. Working on the Trumpeter 1/350 Richelieu and I'm stuck on the paint scheme. I can't seem to find any 2 sources that agree on what colors the Richelieu version of Measure 32 used. I have the Jordan/Dumas book (French Battleships 1922-1956) and in their color profile the side view even has discrepancies with the top view on the same page. Hopefully someone here can bring some clarity to these questions:
1.) Were all horizontal surfaces painted Deck Blue? (I found a color top view online from the Polish author Maciej Sobanski and it shows every horizontal surface as deck blue).
2.) If number one above is not the case, what is correct?
3.) On the hull sides what is the light gray color? And what color are the "false bows" painted?

Hopefully if I know these I can get started on the paint job.

Notice that the Richelieu from Trumpeter is missing two Bofors 40 mm quadruple directos arround the aft main rangefinder(Red Circle):

The question about the rafts, still keep me busy. I foud a picture from the earlys 60's where you can see that the colors of the rafts are good. We did build this RC-model in th eearly 80's so I did't no anymore how whe come to these colors.

Hi there , having just ordered a 1/350 Trumpy Richelieu can someone give me a quick run down on what etch sets are available , just a basic build - nothing too fancy.
