Thanks, I was not aware of the "early" deployment of the radars, I have never seen a picture of the ships in that period - But I will be glad to see the picture you mention above.

Sadly I dont have a way to upload those picture, but I must clarify something.
There is a profile in black and white that shows Ise with the experimental radar during 1942(Wich later is removed if we agree with the Nihon Kaigun site), and one more picture that is a focus on the back of the main raingefinder of Ise or Hyuga that shows the type 21 experimental radar during 1942.

Miyukikai have updated their ISE drawings. An addional drawing sheet is added that by the looks of it includes much needed deck plans. Only $24, which is a bargain.

I'm a biginner regarding IJN ship model.

I have hasegawa 1/700 Ise, old tool I guess. I just love the way this ship looked in 1918.

My questions thus are:

1. Where can I find some good plans and drawings of Ise in 1918 set up?
2. Any good pics sources?
3. What do I have to do to convert 1941-2 hasegawa kit to 1918 Ise? (sounds stupidly broad question??? )

Please a question...
I'm building the Hasegava "Hyuga" (1:700), and have some PE parts for it (from GMM - the "Japanese WWII Battleships" kit).
One of things i want to replace is the "lattice" support structure for searchlights and AA guns - around the funnel; and, such part is present in the GMM PE kit and looks very nice.
However, as i found, it is having almost nothing in common with the original plastic details from the Hasegava kit.
The configuration of it, the size - all is different; and, it is quite confusing (i.e, "whom to believe more"?...).
Please can somebody provide some consultation / advice? Many thanks in advance! Sincerely - Alex

Thank you for advice! I don't think i will buy them (as at first i just can't- not having a credit card or bank account (that is not unusual for my part of the world ) , and, at second, i already have that GMM PE set - and would like to use it)... but now, at least - with these pix - i have some idea how to try to "adopt" what i have to the model! The Model Art Ship Modeling Special #6 is devoted to the Hyuga/Ise, & there is a conversion article on backdating them to 1918 configuration.

hello. it`s my first post

Hey guys...

I just have a... somewhat funny question, figured I'd collect some opinions from you guys.

Do you prefer the Ise and the Hyuga with or without their carrier deck?

I'm torn between which version to get, as I love them with all their 12 guns to show their original might and power, yet they've also been made famous pretty much thanks to their deck, making them the unique Battleship-carriers.

I'm swaying back and forth between which version to aim for. lol

What are your opinions on this? Just to have a lil discussion.

Just do as I did - build one of each - in scale 1/700 (Hasegawa new moulds is one of the best):big_grin:

Hmmm... is there a way to recognize which one's a new mould?

I think what I have access to is probably the old Hasegawa kit.

Is the old kit that much worse?

Hi Mperor, here is the box art from the new kits - in my opinion they are light years ahead the old. But of course if you are willing to do a lot of scratch build, the old kits can be fine too. But go for the new if you will have a good building experience.

Indeed, it probably is the old kit, then. =\ My skills are still quite limited, I have yet to learn all about photo-etches...

I think I'll try to get my carriers first, with the limited budget that I have... heh.

I do have the aim of getting all IJN battleships and all carriers of the Kido Butai as a goal, so sooner or later... I'll try getting Hyuga and Ise.

It would appear like I can only afford older kits for now, lol.

I have access to the Fujimi Ise/Hyuga kits, but they're just so damn expensive at the store I got to...
