Hi

I just laid down the Lai Yuan cruiser in 1/700, based on the SS Models resin kit. There's not much info on her, only a few photos. As I plan to build several more of chinese ships from Beiyang ships, lets gather some files here.

I have a question - what are the red circled things in the attached picture? They are shown in the side view of the drawing, but not in the top view...

Drainage? Perhaps you can check Bronco 1/144 Chih Yuen, that "thing" in the red circle is very similar to the structure on the hull.

Ok, thats most likely! Would it be a permanent thing or something rigged only at port?

Do you eventually have more pics of 1/144 Bronco Chih Yuen? I dont own the kit (even if I sold several in my store), and the photos of her are somehow rare online

Maybe I can find some. This kit is not very popular. I know someone in China released 1/700 Ji Yuen kit, just let me check its detail first.

There's Ji yuan from Sextant models - https://world.taobao.com/item/457432268 ... .81.lSmUaX
I think there's a resin one from SS-Models, too

Actually it is a plastic model kit. I will check its detail and also get you some 1/144 and 1/350 Chih Yuen pictures this weekend.

Hi WHmin. You have built the 1/144 Bronco Chih Yuen? I have one in my stash. I also built their 1/350 and was impressed by it so I was all excited when I saw the 1/144 release and ordered one. After having checked the parts I felt they could have done a better job in this larger scale. ie; they added no detail on the maindeck bulwark interiors, and the plastic is really thick there; the deck planking run in long strips and have no butt-ends (although they can be cut in); the deck structures could have been separate parts to make painting easier and avoid a lot of masking. I'm sure it will still build into an impressive model, but was slightly disappointed by these shortcuts. What are your opinions on this? :wave_1: I also have the 1/700 S-Models plastic kit - great model; comes with PE and brass barrels!

Thanks, I found a great build of Chih Yuen in 1/144 by Erick Navas online, http://ericknavasmodelismonaval.blogspo ... chive.html, and scratch built the drainage pipes using a 0.2 nickel silver rod for the pipe, and CA soaked paper strips for the "clamps"

Dear forum members,

a friendly hello from me to all of you and sorry that I reply to an old post.

But I am really interested in the forth photo of the Lai Yuen, posted by PetrOs
in his first post. I added the photo in my post to make it clear.

I would need to know the source of this image and is there a way to send it to me
in a higher resolution?

Thanks a lot.

Here a torpedo cruiser detached to the Beiyang fleet during the First Sino-Japanese War, but originally from the Guangdong Fleet, Guangyi (Kuang Yi):

Guangyi (1/700)

Guangyi fought 125 years ago, on the 25th of July 1894, in the Battle of Pungdo, the first battle of Sino Japanese War.

She is seen above together with the protected cruiser Jiyuan (Tsi Yuen). Guangyi was built in 1/700using the Oceanmoon kit.
