I have never built a modern warship in my modeling life(minus various submarines), but those two new(JMSDF Hyuga and JMSDF Ise) JMSDF warships changed that, here some pictures of JMSDF Hyuga when she was opened for public:
First of all a nice video:http://youtu.be/odqh_t6JyQQ

Wow, thx for posting, Atma. These are simply excellent. Finally, a good shot of a Japanese hangar deck

One more view, underway.

Well the ships' primary mission is to function as an anti-submarine warfare carrier, they are also equipped with a 16-cell VLS carrying the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile surface-to-air missile, along with the Phalanx close in weapon system, the ATECS command system and FCS-3 phased-array radar system. They also have enhanced command-and-control capabilities, acting as flagships and national emergency command post afloat(like the USS Northampton and USS Wright).

Amazing ships, I think. And obvious destroyers... I can't imagine how someone could think otherwise. I have no idea how the Chinese could think they'll be operating F-35's anytime soon!

Although that's because I can't see anyone using F-35's anytime soon.

I also love the jockey on the second picture. What lane is he racing on?

TimmyC posted this link in another thread:

Apparently Fujimi is gonna do Hyuga in 1/350 in August. I don't read Japanese and I hope to God it's true....

Looks nice, like the South Korean Dokdo.
One thing is very curious, after looking at that front underway view, she made me think about the HMS Ocean and more even about the HMS Invincible class... Doesn't look like too much technological progress/changes over all these years in this area, or am I mistaken?

In 1/700, which kit is the best? Aoshima, Pit Road? I think I'll try the 1/700 version before ordering the 1/350.

Hmm, is there anybody who believes these beasties are driven by twin 3-blade props of pre-historical vintage???? I doubts it... Also raises the question on how accurate that hull shape is :heh:

I was having doubts about the props too and was thinking about using a pair left over from Trumpeter's Kongo kit.
I'm sure the hull is just fine......

I've seen 3D schematics which suggest 5 bladed props. FWIW.

Hi guys

I have been looking at the upcoming release of the 1/350 JMSDF Ise as a good kit to be added to the collection.

Just read the posts about the 3 blade props, which do seem "outdated" (never noticed them on the Hyuga model pics)

Anyway, I went to my friend Google & then Pics, could not find any real photos but noted the 1/700 model version looks to have modern 5 blade Props.

Hope this helps.
Regards
