Obviously this is not a popular subject! I wasn't sure which section to post this in...But I need some help! I'm trying to find any plans or kits for the "Dixie" class destroyer tenders. Every link to a kit that I've found said it was out of stock. Floating Drydock doesn't carry any plans for this class either. Searches on Flee Bay never come up with anything either. About the only model I've found is the 1:1200 scale waterline model by Alnavco, which leaves a lot to be desired.

You found plans!? Ideally I wanted 1:350, but heck I was ready to settle for 1:700. Sending PM.

I don't know if your aware, but the Dixie was laid down as the Prairie. And the Prairie was laid down as the Dixie. Somewhere along the build on the original Dixie work was stalled. But the politicians still wanted to launch a Dixie as the first of the class, so they took the Prairie because she was furthest along in building.

I forgot to add this link in my first post.

Rick posted this photo in the Atlanta CASF thread, but I'll repost it here because it looks like the Cascade is in it. Cascade participated in Operation Galvanic, so it's likely that's the DD tender in the photo. Prairie didn't show up until the invasion of Guam.

I just found USS Prairie's deployment history. Apparently she arrived at Pearl Harbor in November of '43 and stayed there until 7 February '44. So the tender in the picture is AD-15! :thumbs_up_1:

There is a 1/700 kit of the Dixie class made by David Angelo of Loose Cannon Productions. He moved recently and he's still getting things setup again, but I'm pretty sure those ADs are in the first batch to be released again. There was a message posted on the main forum here recently.
