Hi,

I need your attention and opinion regarding the colour of the decks on the Formidable Class Frigates of the Singapore Navy.

It seems that all decks except the helipad are painted with the same colour used on the hull and vertical surfaces and structures.

More information and great photos of the Formidable Classs Frigates in the links bellow:

What do you think about this issue?

Thanks.

The decks are slightly darker, see e.g. here (also interesting regarding some differences):

I have used Vallejo 154 (vertical surfaces), 159 (decks) and 161 (helicopter deck).

For the modernisation program of the class see here:

Hi,

Thanks for the links.
BTW did you scratch built the 25mm Typhoon guns?
What base did you use?

I might be tempted to build RSS Tenacious (71) with the following configuration on the missile deck:
Port Side: 2x Mk-141 Quadruple Harpoon Launchers and a crane in the central position
Starboard side: 2x RHIBS
Fire control radar (FCR) fitted onto the bridge roof.

More information on the upgrades:
http://kementah.blogspot.pt/2013/05/gui ... -navy.html

On the previous photo the dome between the funnels seems to have greater dimensions than the original one, don't you agree?
Or at least is mounted in a upper position.

Photo with the "original" dome (it's difficult to see the dome between the funnels, isn't it?):

Thanks.

Does the BigBlueBoy kit not include these parts? Strange...

I built RSS Tenacious using the Dutch Fleet Naval Miniatures 3D printed model - and there for technical reasons details have to be added.

The Typhoon guns are scratch built using different plastic and metal material:

There are two satellite antenna between the funnels, a small and a large one. I had overlooked that the large one was moved upwards. There also additional WASS decoy launchers on the hangar of at least some of the modernised ships:

I had not seen them when I had built Tenacious, but she apparently has them at least now also.

Hi,

BigBlueBoy RSS Formidable kit seems to represent the earlier version of this class.
Upgrades mentioned on the previous posts are not included and that includes the lack of the 25mm Typhoon guns, unfortunately because it seems quite difficult to scratch build theses guns at 1/700 scale.

Scan of the instructions sheets of the RSS Formidable from BBB:
