Nice stuff for Mike and others who want to duplicate him in larger scale (and yes, I have a way larger version available):

Back to this one! I picked up the Morskie for Tashkent a few weeks back and have had a little time to look at it, interesting ship and really very smart looking. Some details will be 'challenging' to reproduce in 1:700 but I like a challenge. I already have an idea of how to use her and lets just say those Eduard civilian figures will come in handy.

One thing that does give me a slight problem is what colour exactly is that she is painted? Is it Italian colours? Not being able to read the polish text and having seen no mention of it elsewhere it has me stumped.

Mike

Hi Guys,
These might help with your build of the Tashkent. Cheers Gary

Anybody built the Combrig destroyer Tashkent? Any reviews or opinions?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi,

I built the Samek Tashkent in 1/700 scale. I did a bit of scratch building on her and added some details like after market 37 mm Italian AA guns and brass barrels. I painted her in a custom mix of Humbrol colours, as close as I could match the Profile Morskie colour profile of her in the " blue".

The kit got a first at the Chicago 2001 NATS.

Here is a link to a photo on my website.

I have the kit but haven't built it. Seems to be the usual Combrig quality. Do you have any specific questions?

Pavel: Thanks, a good looking model of a good looking ship!

Vladimir: Well, I wondered if the overall dimensions seem to be correct, since appearently they did no great job there with their Valerian Kuibyshev (as per your feature build in the gallery).

Thanks and cheers,
Peter

What is the appropriate color for painting the Tashkent? She was called "the blue cruiser", and color suggestions run from a lurid cobalt blue to Regia Marina light blue. I would appreciate any information.
TIA, Richard

The Trumpeter 1/200 Former Soviet "Courageous" destroyer aka Project 7/Gnevny class seems to be available once again, provided by an outfit called Modelist from the Russian Federation. Nice box art, it is given the name Destroyer "RAZUMNY".

Seems to be most easily available on fleabay...
