Those masks look great. Will they be available in 1/96 and 1/72 scale?

Sure, whatever scale you need.

The masking sheet for the OHP are done, have a couple in stock.

You can give contact me here or on Facebook (RS Finemodels)

Do you do the Australian version for the flight deck and numbers?

I am on my first kit in many years, working on my old ship USS ANTRIM FFG-20 (Now sailing in the Turkish Navy)

Kindly recommend the best non-airbrush paints that I should buy for 1) The Haze Gray 2) Deck Grey 3) Brass fittings and any other recommendations appreciated.

Thanks,
J Olson

Are you looking for rattle-can paints, or something you could brush on?

Spray for the hull and deck, brush for the brass details, etc...

Thanks

I am currently building my old ship USS ANTRIM FFG-20 using the Academy Oliver Hazard Perry kit.

The motor whale boat in the kit is not anywhere near the type of outboard on my old ship. I am hoping for any suggestions on a solution to find a similar one to the one at this link. Thanks.

I ran into the same issue with my build of USS McInerney (FFG-8) and ended up modifying (as best I could) an old ISW whaleboat I had in my spares box (see last photo in the series at http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery ... /index.htm).

Since then, L'Arsenal developed a modern MWB kit (http://www.larsenal.com/1-350-us-navy-1 ... 2x19796444) which is what I would use now.

HTH,

Keith

Question about two specific FFG's.
The USS Vandegrift ffg-48 & the USS Gary ffg-51.
Are these long hull or short hull? The time frame I want to do is 2005. Are there any specific references for these ships anyone knows of?
I want to do ships of Carrier Strike group 5 the USS Kitty hawk. I have been scouring the web for photos. I have found the the front missile
launcher was replaced/ removed somewhere between 2004 & 2006 but can't seem to find a definitive answer. Theses are my first questions
as I am doing the research before I get started. I have the Academy 1/350 kit of the OHP & the Pontos deluxe set.
This will be my first ship model since I was a kid back in the 70's. I think my skills are to the point that I can do justice to one so I am diving in with both feet.

I have been doing 1/35 armor and 1/48 & 1/2 aircraft for years but have always admired the ship builders. Just something about a well built model ship.
Especially since I have seen Kelly Quirk's work in person having been to many KC contests back in the day.
I have always wanted a big aircraft carrier and have owned the Tamiya Enterprise but it just wasn't what I wanted. I have already purchased the Trumpeter
1/350 scale Kitty Hawk but want to work up to it. I am hoping Pontos releases a detail set for it. I know that KA models has one but I don't want to have to sell some organs to pay for it.
And I already have the USS JFK next in my sights. Addiction? Perhaps, but what do you do.

Thanks
Tom

Another question. On photos of the front of the ship there is a notch above the doors on either side. In fact Pontos give you a template to cut those out. Whats behind there? Is it a platform or something? Is there glass in it? What is the reason for it's existence? If there is something behind I want to build the structure. I can see on some photos there might be a ladder down the side under it but can tell for sure.

Thanks
Tom

These ones? They're for the red and green navigation lights. Willie discusses adding them to his model a few pages back: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=21745&start=340#p409284

Yes those are the ones. I must have missed it when i read through it the first time. Must be a platform for maintenance behind it.

Thanks
Tom

There is a storage platform behind, RAN and USN units, not sure on Spanish units as the partition has been modified.
