I just pulled this project down off the shelf and started working on it again; I started it a few years ago and have just never finished it. When finished it will be the USS Preble DDG-46 as she appeared in the mid-70's when I served in her. Scale is 1/700 and with the exception of the 5", ASROC launcher, SPS-48 radar and some PE here and there she's totally scratchbuilt.

Hopefully I'll be able to make better progress this go round then I have in the past. I've already added the bulwarks port and starboard that were immediately aft of the breakwaters on the main deck forward, and I've added a lot of detail to the main deck bulkheads to the point that it's just about ready for paint.

Well, till next time.....good modeling to all.

Bruce,
It's good to see that someone is interested in the "Farragut" class DLG/DDG, enough to scratch a model of one. Mid-70's, She wouldn't have been upgraded with Harpoon yet.
The SPS-48 was, as I remember, the fire control radar. In Luce, DLG-7, and Farragut, DDG-37, we had an SPS-29C, and SPS-10B.....good luck scratching a 1:700 '10 antenna. I was in Farragut when she got Harpoon. We deployed to the Med, and entered the Black Sea, along with the Peterson. The Russians weren't too happy about "Harpoon" in the Black Sea.
Hope to see your progress, I'm still debating the start of a pair of 1:700 Farragut class DLG/DDGs.
Pete

Gents,

Are there other 1/700 model kits of Farragut class DLG/DDG's other than Niko's USS Coontz?

Thanks, in advance, for your words of wisdom.
