This thread is getting popular :). The class really is very handsome, and so many potent systems crammed into a relatively small hull.

Will.

I guess so, it's brand-newness and from a "popular' subject like the Soviet/Russian Navy is pretty appealing to a lot of people.
Cramming a lot of stuff in a corvette is typically Russian, her shape however is quite new to them. They have only few real stealth ships with flat sides up till now. Talwar was arguably the first real effort, then the small Astrakhan patrol boats, but that's about it...
It will be interesting to see how they develop this route further.

Terrific to see OUR ship appearing in model form. Hopefully we will soon see a 1/350 scale or better coming out - the link seems to show a well moulded 1/700 if that (or have I missed something :cool_2: )

Also good to see this thread moving again.

Here's an extensive photo walkaround. My apologies if this has already been posted. I took a look and didn't see a previous link but I could have missed it.

Happy to help, gents.

I spent hours searching to find these. Sean will spend a day off downloading them. Dave's obviously quite excited about them. On a seemingly unrelated note, it's odd that we modellers aren't invited to more parties given how interesting we clearly are, as a group. :heh:

Thought that I would break the drought here with a shot of STEREGUSHCHY's bow which I had not seen before. It was on http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/sh ... ular-basis)/page2681. Anyone seen any recent shots of SOOBRAZITELNY?

Cheers

I smell a build! Build! Build! Build! The crowd is chanting. They want a build or a human sacrifice; or a commerative keychain - that would probably appease them, also. Most of them are just here on a lunch break.

Following extract from http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/sh ... ular-basis)/page2778&s=306496616284b575a27b645372831490 is interesting in giving progress on the 20380 project :thumbs_up_1: :

Soobrazitelny is finishing up/starting trials. Boiky will be launched this month, will be handed over to navy in 2011. Stoiky is under construction and will be handed over to Navy in 2012. Soversheny, the first built in Komsomolsk, will also be handed over in 2012. Provorny is supposed to be laid down this year.

Horrible pace of construction. Will be funny when much larger 11356 ships are built in half the time.

Oh and the Dagestan 11661 is supposed to be launched this year.

Apparently an enlarged and improved Steregushchy is being built: http://seawavesmagazine.blogspot.com/20 ... vette.html

Any one have ideas on what this may involve?

Dave wrote somewhere that he has got his plans from his friend - naval architect who used photos to draw them for his project. Parts of those drawings where already criticized on Russian forums - some people view some parts :heh: of those drawings differently.

May be sad news but I believe we will not see the plans for hull, etc. for some time as it is a new ship and it is unlikely the plans would be available to general public - same as we do not have plans for modern LCS :heh: and plastic models of LCS-2 for instance are approximations only.

However I have heard several enthusiasts try to draw Stereguyschiy plans using photos - I know that people learning ship engineering can make plans having tonnage, side and deck views (but there is no exact dimensions available also, I heard of 2 (or 3) various lengths of Stereguschiy :heh: ) - also there is a technique of drawing objects (including complex ones) from photos. But it would not be original plans. If I have any more news of their progress I will post it here.

Sincerely,

YEvgeniy

Hey guys,

For those wanting to model a Steregushchy. I am working on a linesplan of this class as I intend to build a Rc-model myself too. I have done several ships in the past so I'm sure to say it's 99% accurate. Will be something like this:

Kind regards,
Pim
