I recently became aware of these two RNN gunboats (or sloops), nicknamed "The Terrible Twins" by the Royal Navy.

Here's a profile pic of the Soemba:

An interesting read on these gunboats can be found here:

I'm in the process of building a custom 1:600 scale RNN Flores (kit-bashed), and will post pics once finished. Shouldn't be too far off ;)

Well, it's not finished yet. But here's an update. It's my first foray into PE.

Ok, well almost done. I just need to touch up some paint on the cammo scheme, and am still wondering whether or not I'm going to make the rigging more complicated.

This is my first scratch build (apart from the hull which was 'borrowed' from another kit), my first PE, and my first rigging. Fairly pleased with the result, but I'm glad that I practiced on this ship, and not the Bismarck I've got sitting in the dockyard :D

Thanks EJFoeth.

Yea, there will be more on the way. I'll also be converting a 1:600 HMS Hotspur to a 1:600 Hr. Ms. Piet Hein (or Hr. Ms. Evertson - haven't decided), which should be relatively straight forward conversion.

I also have plans to build 'old Jacob' (aka Hr. Ms. Jacob van Heemskerk). I'll be scratchbuilding the super-structure, but I haven't figured out how to do the hull yet.

Thanks for the encouragement DanCinSD. I learnt a lot from this build, and am hoping to have a crack at a scratch hull next.
