Fujimi seems to like a quick return on its investments so I would imagine a release in the not too distant future.

I'd be cautious about the Umikaze Type 13 radar mounting. I think it's fanciful thinking on PitRoad's part. Most DDs did not get a Type 13 radar until well into 1944. Umikaze's last dockyard visit prior to being sunk on 2/1/44 was in early November, 1943. By way of comparison, sister Harusame emerged from a complete repair/rebuild, including a new bridge and Type 22 radar/foremast at the same time as Umikaze's last visit. Harusame's November 1943 photo shows no Type 13 radar anywhere.

This is not definitive proof but, I tend to doubt the Type 13 radar at all for Umikaze.

It certainly sounds like these will be the roundbridge types. Which is good if you don't want to have to kitbash some of your other DD kits to make one.

I think I'd choose Kawakaze as one of the round bridge types; she probably had the most notable war record among the four.

Here's 2 views of Kawakaze in Chinese waters, late 1930s, and another view of Umikaze, and of Yamakaze.

Shigure was one of the earlier ships of the class with the angular bridge. The four later "round-bridge" ships were all "kaze's". (Umikaze, etc)

Ah I see thanks Dick J. So in other words I will have to buy the early war kit and the late war kit and swap the bridges to get my late war IJN Shigure and the
others shall be late war IJN Samidare. And then for the Early war round bridges DD IJN yamakaze and IJN Kawakaze

Thx for posting, Atma. The parts breakdown is the same as for the Shiratsuyu/Harusame kit - early to midwar fit, no radars. It appears they've swapped out the square bridge tree for a round bridge tree.

Patience, grasshopper. They will come; Fujimi is not going to let such an opportunity slip buy. They already showed us the Shigure CAD. Maybe they'll do one square bridge, one round bridge, late war boxing

If they were really, really smart, they'd work up a Yugumo style bridge tooling for a refitted Harusame, then use that to roll out a new Yugumo class kit.

If you can't wait, you need to build a revised tripod foremast to carry the Types 13 & 22 radar & , remove the single mount 12.7cm and replace with a deck house topped with a triple 25mm mount. Probably add roll off d/c racks, possibly some single 25mm, depnding on timeframe.

Hahahaha yeah I'm really hoping you're right. Ive been looking forward too building a good IJN Shigure for a long time. And who knows maybe they will just reless a late war conversion kit. That is assuming that the only real differences between the Early-war and Late-war is placing a triple AA gun platform and mount over the area of the single main gun and a type 13 radar for IJN Shigure only ( or so i think she is the only one to get a type 13 ..or maybe was it she is the only one to have a type 13 on her forward mast ). Or maybe some other aftermarket company with pick up on that. Cant be that hard too do. Also very true about the idea of them making new Yugumo class kits ! pesonaly im hopeing for late war Akizuki Class or maybe Asashio Class ......or as im at it a Fubuki Class

Atam youll have too keep us posted with your knowledge about them new up coming dd kits!

There is a new August release from Fujimi in 1/700, IJN Yamakaze/IJN Kawakaze early war (1941-'42).
Like all previous Destroyers in 1/700 by Fujimi they will be 2 kits in the box for the price of one.

Interesting. This would be the other two round bridge sisters in yet another early to mid war fit. Fujimi is certainly looking to maximize its investment by relasing every possible boxing.

According to http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10192437 this 2-ship box should include photo-etched parts, too, so we could get them bundled at an interesting price tag. Indeed, I would also prefer one of them in the box to be round-bridge and the other one square-bridge, but...

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10192437
Enjoy !
