Calling all Chinese Type 903, Type 903A, etc. oiler fans

Post by Haijun watcher »

The Shapeways vendor "Objects may appear..." is offering a number of 1/700 3D-printed warships, including the Chinese PLA-Navy's Qiandaohu(??? ) class oiler model. The name "Fuchi" is merely the NATO codename.

There are two variants of this class, the first being the Type 903 and the other being the Type 903A, with the latter having a heavier displacement at 23,000 tons. Here's a picture of one of the class members, courtesy of wikipedia:

While the level of detail on this 3D-printed example may be disappointing for some, it could serve as a starting point for scratchbuilding into a more accurate model.
"Haijun" means "navy" in Mandarin Chinese.
