I have a 1:100 resin model kit of a 56' USN Steam Picket Boat built by William Cramp & Sons, Philadelphia in 1899. Aside from the first sentence I don't know anything at all about boats of this sort in the US Navy and I'd be happy to know of some sources for photos or more information.

The British had boats of similar size, name and appearance to mine and they used theirs at least up to the start of WWII. A good reference for the British boats is N.B.J. Stapleton's book, Steam Picket Boats and other small steam craft of the Royal Navy. But it never mentions anybody else's boats so it isn't of any help to me in deciding how to go about the build of my kit. I will attach a photo that came with the kit to give you an idea of what this thing looks like.

Any leads you all can offer for US boats would be much appreciated.

Bob

p.s. My picket boat kit comes from a now-defunct Latvian company named Tehnoart who put out a few wonderful large-scale, usually limited production kits.
